Hemapriya Kaviratne, the Co-Organizer for Maharagama of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and a veteran lecturer in Political Science, has unveiled a groundbreaking political strategy, moving away from old conventions that dominate the country’s political culture.
The new program, spearheaded by Mr. Kavitharathna, held during a special meeting for party activists and divisional organizers in the Maharagama electorate, is founded on the principle of “Equality” rather than “Elite Politics.” Under this initiative, all activists will receive equal recognition, and a commitment was made to provide data-driven, scientific solutions to the problems faced by the people of Maharagama.
A core objective of this plan is to establish a mechanism that remains continuously engaged with the public, moving away from the traditional model that only activates during election periods. It was revealed that new technological approaches will be employed to gather information on current issues within the Maharagama electorate and provide effective solutions.
Furthermore, Mr. Kavitharathna has imposed a strict condition when appointing new divisional organizers for the party: a 100% priority must be given to youth representation, and they must be residents of the respective division.
Another unique feature of this program is the decision to establish a dedicated “Welfare Society” for the well-being of party activists. The meeting, which was conducted simply and effectively-devoid of the traditional garlands and picture displays often seen at political rallies-strongly hints that the next political transformation of the SJB is set to begin in Maharagama.
