COLOMBO – A delegation from TikTok Sri Lanka met with the Secretary to the Prime Minister last week (16) to discuss the platform’s potential role in advancing digital education and economic opportunities in the country, moving beyond its traditional entertainment focus.
During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s office, TikTok representatives underscored the critical need for legislative inclusion, research, and curriculum amendments to foster digital literacy, address digital hygiene, and unlock economic opportunities within the digital sphere.
The Prime Minister’s Secretary emphasized the urgency of implementing such collaborative efforts, especially in light of ongoing reforms within the education sector.
The discussion was attended by Ferdous Al Mottakin, TikTok Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs for South Asia, along with the Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister and other officials.
