UNP-SJB Alliance Seals Deal to Counter ‘Malimawa’ Threat: Sajith to Lead New Alliance, Ruwan as Deputy, Ranil as Senior Advisor!

In a decisive move to halt the arbitrary advance of the National People’s Power (NPP/JVP-led ‘Malimawa’), which is currently burdening the public with excessive taxes and attempting to curtail civil liberties through repressive “PSTA”-like black laws, Sri Lanka’s two main democratic forces, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the United National Party (UNP), joined hands yesterday (30) in Colombo. Political commentators hail the cordial discussion—held between Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene, Deputy Chairman Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, and Vice President Naveen Dissanayake—as the inaugural bell for saving a country currently sliding towards anarchy.

A ‘Maha-Alliance’ for Democracy

During the hours-long discussion, agreement was reached to form a common front against the anti-people financial policies and the short-sighted disaster management processes implemented by the ‘Malimawa’ government. Former Minister Harin Fernando emphasized the vital necessity of the two parties uniting to safeguard democracy in the country, stressing that the leadership of this coalition must be held by Sajith Premadasa.

UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is set to contribute his mature political experience to the nation by serving as the Senior Advisor to this alliance. InfoSriLanka.lk reports that Ruwan Wijewardene, among others, has been proposed to take on the Deputy Leadership role, spearheading the alliance’s forward operations.
