Hakeem Urges Voters to Reject SJB, Muslim Congress to Contest Separately

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Leader Rauf Hakeem announced that his party will contest the upcoming local government elections independently.

Speaking at a rally in Samanthurai, Hakeem stated that the SLMC will field its candidates for 11 seats in Kandy and contest three seats jointly with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) at the request of SJB organizers and with the consent of SLMC members.

Hakeem urged the public not to vote for the SJB, criticizing the party’s “outdated” telephone symbol. He emphasized the need for serious consideration regarding future cooperation between the SLMC and SJB.
